Choosing their own path: mother and daughter take different steps after learning about hereditary cancer risk

Debbie Herman's mother and six aunts and uncles had cancer. So it is perhaps not too surprising to learn that the BRCA2 gene mutation runs in the family.
Herman and her daughter, Emily Huggins, both got genetic testing to assess their risk. Each made a different choice based on what they learned, and relied on specialists at Hollings to help them along the way.
